David Fogel

Award-winning composer and #1 Billboard charting producer and mixing engineer David Fogel, Ph.D. is the CEO and Co-Founder of The Symphonina Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading the joy of symphonic music to young audiences worldwide. David created the short-symphony Symphonina genre to help today’s listeners connect with symphonic music and give young composers and performers more opportunities for professional development. 

Trained originally in classical music, he later studied jazz in his 20s and has played professionally in the San Diego area since 1994, where he started a 16-year piano gig at the Catamaran Hotel. 

A multi-instrumentalist, David now focuses mainly on orchestral and jazz composition. In addition to numerous singles, he has released two jazz albums (Back in the Groove and Showtime) along with the orchestral album The First Five Symphoninas, which earned a gold medal from the Global Music Awards (2026). 

David has captained many symphonic recording sessions, including working with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, as well as the London Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. He is voting member of the Recording Academy and also the host of the Symphonina Foundation podcast, which shines the spotlight on individuals in the symphonic world.
